The Silicon Valley GIVES program to help BELL expand learning time
April 25, 2014 - San Jose, CA - BELL will participate in the Silicon Valley Community Foundation's (SVCF) first-ever day of giving, Silicon Valley Gives. The event aims to inspire and unite our local community to support philanthropic causes, including our summer learning partnership with Bridges Academy.
On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, SVCF will raise money for local nonprofits through a single online donation platform, providing a great way to connect donors to the charitable causes they care about most and encourage them to take action. This 24-hour online fundraising effort will give the community foundation the opportunity to raise millions of dollars for thousands of nonprofits - and make a difference to people's lives in Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Benito counties.
BELL is one of several non-profits that will take part in the Silicon Valley Gives program. We hope to raise funding for our summer learning programs in San Jose. BELL and the Bridges Academy in the Franklin McKinley School District have created our campaign page highlighting this summer's goals. We are preparing to launch our third summer program for 7th and 8th grade scholars on campus, providing academic support in English language arts and mathematics, along with a host of enrichment opportunities in the areas of STEM, visual and performing arts, and health and nutrition. Scholars have an opportunity to attend field trips on Fridays related to their enrichment experiences, as well as visit a college campus. It's an amazing summer learning experience for scholars with few high-quality, affordable, and accessible options in their communities.
Please visit the link below and consider donating. Your donation will directly impact the scholars on campus and help to ensure that they receive the summer learning opportunities they need to succeed.
